Introduction
In early 2024, as AI tokens like $SPX surged in popularity, I was approached by a developer team to design and build the marketing website for Inferna, a new AI-driven token launching on Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 backed by Coinbase.
The concept behind Inferna was simple yet original: the AI would autonomously invest in tokens selected by community vote, then burn those tokens, permanently removing them from circulation. This deflationary mechanism inspired the name Inferna, a nod to both fire and finality.
My role involved translating this innovative financial mechanism into an engaging, high-conversion website that clearly communicated the utility, vision, and technical underpinnings of the project to both seasoned crypto investors and curious newcomers.

Challenges
One of the most unique challenges of the Inferna site was capturing the token’s high-concept narrative through visuals that felt both futuristic and ominous. The core idea - an AI that incinerates crypto tokens - demanded a strong visual metaphor. Instead of relying on stock assets or traditional motion design, I leaned into RunwayML to generate cinematic AI-driven animations. This allowed us to create surreal, infernal scenes that aligned with the project’s name and ethos - smoldering landscapes, abstract data flames, and evolving token rituals. It was a delicate process of iteration: prompting, refining, and compositing outputs to achieve just the right tone without straying into visual chaos.
Building the site in Framer brought both freedom and complexity. The platform’s real-time design-to-code workflow made it ideal for experimenting with animation timings, scroll-based triggers, and interactive layers. However, integrating large AI-generated video files into a performant, responsive site required careful optimization. I worked through asset compression strategies and fallback states to ensure a seamless mobile experience without compromising the high-impact aesthetic. Balancing visual richness with fast load times became a core design constraint, and ultimately, a rewarding technical puzzle.
