As a small team, we embrace the power of AI to dramatically amplify our output - sometimes by an order of magnitude. By combining structured JSON prompting in Google Veo3 with post-production workflows in Adobe After Effects and Premiere, I was able to write, direct, and produce these video ads in just a few days. What traditionally would have taken weeks, and cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars, was achieved with a lean, agile approach powered by cutting-edge tools.

Challenges
While AI tools dramatically accelerate production, they introduce a unique set of creative and technical challenges. Prompt engineering, especially when using structured, JSON-formatted prompts, is a nuanced, often painstaking process. These prompts require a deep understanding of how different parameters influence outputs, and even slight misconfigurations can lead to wildly inconsistent or unusable results. There’s no universal formula, it’s an iterative, trial-and-error-driven craft.
Maintaining character consistency across shots remains one of the biggest hurdles, as models frequently regenerate facial features, outfits, or proportions unexpectedly. Visual artefacts, unintended captions, and frame glitches often slip into outputs, requiring careful editing or creative workarounds. Clip duration is also limited, restricting narrative pacing and requiring segmentation or stitching in post.
Despite these limitations, when paired with traditional editing tools like Adobe After Effects and Premiere, AI can be harnessed to produce high-quality video at a fraction of the time and cost, so long as you’re willing to wrestle with its quirks.
